Green Octopus Project

The Green Octopus (IPCEI) projects focusses on creating a 2000 km hydrogen backbone, between France, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands by re-purposing existing pipelines. The backbone would be serving hydrogen supply and demand facilitated by the ports and industrial clusters, integrating energy systems and coupling sectors. By maximising implementation of offshore wind energy, 6 GW of wind-based hydrogen can be produced and transported through the pipelines to multiple users. The Green Octopus Project aims to drive cross-borders solutions and encourage collarboration between companies and Member States.
