H100 Fife is a development plan by SGN for a green hydrogen heating network. The British gas distribution company aims employ a direct supply of renewable power to produce hydrogen for domestic heating. In the project’s first phase, the green hydrogen network will heat around 300 local homes. The hydrogen will be produced by an electrolysis plant, powered by the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult’s nearby offshore wind turbine. The system will be designed and built based on the same safety and reliability standards as expected from the current gas system. An on-site storage unit will hold enough hydrogen to ensure supply during peaks of high demand and low production. H100 Fife will also play an important role in gathering insights regarding customer interest towards hydrogen and low-carbon heating solutions.
